O’Malley holds significant statewide lead over Ehrlich

Baltimore, MD (September 24, 2006) – Today, O’Malley/Brown Campaign Manager, Josh White, released the following statement in reaction to the latest Baltimore Sun poll showing Martin O’Malley leading Bob Ehrlich 50 percent to 44 percent statewide. O’Malley holds a 17 point advantage among “frequent� voters, and a 15 point advantage over Bob Ehrlich among “moderate voters� – who are critical in this year’s election.

“This poll is consistent with every other independent statewide poll conducted to date, showing Martin O’Malley with a significant lead over Bob Ehrlich. The poll shows that Maryland families prefer Martin O’Malley’s detailed plans for more affordable healthcare, lower utility bills and tuition costs to Bob Ehrlich’s attempts to cover up his record of siding with special interests and George Bush over Maryland families.�

“After millions spent and months of negative attack ads by Bob Ehrlich, the people of Maryland are rejecting Bob Ehrlich’s politics of division for Martin O’Malley’s positive message of fighting for Maryland’s hardworking families.�

Significantly, Bob Ehrlich has failed to break the all-important incumbent-threshold 50% mark in the Baltimore Sun poll released today and every other statewide poll conducted to date.
