Vision and Plan for the Future of Maryland’s Schools

Today Governor Martin O'Malley and Lt. Governor Anthony Brown announced their vision and plan to move Maryland schools forward. They are committed to continuing to reform Maryland's public schools by providing every child with a world-class learning environment. During O'Malley's first term, the State of Maryland invested $1.3 billion in school construction and restoration projects—a 56% increase over Ehrlich's administration—providing the necessary funding to rebuild schools and communities throughout Maryland.

In order to move Maryland forward, Governor O'Malley has made a commitment to continue meeting the recommendations of the Kopp Commission for school construction funding and has a detailed plan to make our schools more energy-efficient. The Governor's plan also includes alternative financing options that he would support and work with local jurisdictions to implement.
