40,000 Maryland Jobs:

Governor O’Malley announced today that Maryland has created more than 40,000 jobs since January which marked the fourth consecutive month of job growth in our state.  These are tough times for our families, but because of the tough decisions and strategies put in place by Governor O’Malley, we are continuing to create new jobs and create the conditions for economic growth in our state.

And we are not done yet.  Under Martin O'Malley, Maryland was ranked #2 in the country this year by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for entrepreneurship and innovation and every day, more Maryland businesses – large and small – are taking advantage of Governor O’Malley’s hiring tax credit to create new jobs. While there are some who want to take Maryland back, Governor O’Malley is fighting every single day, making the tough decisions to get our families through the recession and create new jobs in our state.  Last week, while Governor O’Malley convened Maryland’s first Green Tech Jobs Forum to outline his plan to create 100,000 new green jobs…

Bob Ehrlich was making promises he just can’t keep to spend like it was 2006 all over again… increasing the state’s budget deficit by $2.4 billion.

More Empty Promises:
That’s right, Bob Ehrlich’s fiscally irresponsible plan will increase the state’s budget deficit by $2.4 billion over four years.  But that hasn’t stopped him from making promises he just can’t keep.  It’s a familiar story, because we’ve heard it all before… In 2002, Bob Ehrlich told us he wouldn’t raise our taxes.  But he raised the state’s property tax by 58% and raised more than $3 billion in taxes and fees on Maryland families.

In 2002, Bob Ehrlich told us he would save us money.  But he increased state spending by 33% in four years – more than any governor in Maryland history and more than governors Glendenning and Schaefer.

In 2002, Bob Ehrlich told us he cared about our kids.  But he cut spending for school construction creating a crisis in our schools, and he failed to fully-fund Thornton.

And Bob Ehrlich said he’d be for working families. But instead he put the special interests first, and even helped companies ship jobs overseas.

We’ve heard a lot of promises from Bob Ehrlich over the years, but he always comes back home to his fiscally irresponsible, special interest agenda. So it shouldn’t come as any surprise that Bob Ehrlich is again making fiscally irresponsible promises that he just can’t keep.
